This is a departure from my usual formula but I can cover smaller concepts with less effort, if you like this format comment a trick or concept I can make a vid like this For reference, the numbers I am writing about in the vid refer to fingers, and the apostrophe refers to fakie 1 - index 2 - middle 3 - ring 4 - pinky So 23 is mid grip, and 23' is fakie mid grip. If that doesn't make sense jus...

The first community spotlight goes to my friend Jakub. If I didn't make it clear enough in the video, he is one of the top players and is progressing at a seriously impressive rate. He's the newest member of the MonkeyfingeR begleri team, and is also a talented kendama player. He deserves way more recognition than he is getting. Does the string have much to do with learning? Mine is basically 550 cord and it seems like it's too bulky, especially because I've got hands on the smaller size.

You cant understand how good this tutorial is. After reading through forums and browsing websites the instructions for beginners are always just: Do THIS. This tutorial confines basic info and basic technique in the perfect way. Thank you very much for making my entry into this nieche hobby a LOT easies.

Thank you. As a prop spinner, I made some begleri, which I now see are way to long, but they're super fun still. Been doing my own exoration without seeing any videos or people ever playing. Been developing my own drill, and I can't wait to practice something new and with proper terminology.

I think what's making slips difficult for me is the angle my fingers are at compared to my palm. Showing grips is often done with a flat palm, but when slinging you actually bring your straight fingers in towards your palm, so that your fingers and palm make an ~90 degree angle. When you try and slip, If you make a "fist" with a flat palm your grip does a full 180 and the string wraps around your palm. If your fingers are already at 90 degrees your grip only moves 90 degrees and the string spins smoothly past your knuckles.

I’m just trying to get started with this and even though this is 6+ years old, and maybe it’s done in your bedroom, but this has, by far, helped me get started and actually moving forward. Like basketball, if you don’t know how to dribble, or pass, forget about making a basket. Sorry to ramble. These basics are a great foundation for building the dexterity and muscle memory to do even the basic tricks. Thanks for sharing. 🎉

i was having trouble with slips and i figured out my problem was that i was spinning the begleri too fast to fit the slip in there nicely. i slowed down a bit and let the weight of the beads do the work and slips became much easier.

Hi MB I’m really new to Begleri. I really like and appreciate the videos. Question: Do you use paracord or a thinner lace/cord for the Begleri?? And. How long do you think it takes on average to do the basics reasonably well, with one hour practice per day?? That is not really a fair question, so don’t feel obligated to answer that!!

9:42 How do you even do that, bending the pinky while the ring finger is straight? XD When fixing my ring finger in the straight position I have no control over my pinky. Am I missing muscles, the proper neurological wiring or are my tendons to blame? The last two are theoretically fixable.
